The Castello di Celsa
The Castello di Celsa

Overview of the Castello di Celsa

Exclusive elegance a stone’s throw from Siena

The exclusive Castello di Celsa, owned by the princely Aldobrandini family, lies fourteen kilometers south-east of Siena. It is within easy reach of such cultural gems as Florence, San Gimignano, Volterra and the Chianti area. Lucca, Pisa and Arezzo are about one and a half hours by car and Perugia, Orvieto and Assisi are equally easy day trips.

Celsa has the quality that dreams are made of. A castle with turrets surrounded by a formal garden, a Renaissance chapel and a beautifully converted conservatory – the Limonaia – look accross the valley towards the skyline of Siena, surrounded by 250 hectares of land.

The Castello di Celsa is one of Italy’s best kept secrets as it is not open to the public, but those fortunate enough to go there are invariably awed by the sheer elegance of its interiors and the mystique that surrounds the place which has not surprisingly been featured in a number of books and publications on the beauties of Tuscany.

The true beauty of Celsa lies in its silence and the spectacular view over the surrounding countryside, at a stone’s throw from the magical city of Siena, a landscape that has not changed for centuries’.
