Luxury and private beach in WWF Park - CLASS LISTED / LANDMARKED BUILDING
Villa Trappola Torre Trappola Maremma Tuscany Coast
Overview
The main villa on the estate, Villa Trappola, was built in 1283 as a tower 30 metres high to defend the coastline from marauding Saracens.
The tower is surrounded by a landscaped garden, planted in the summer of 2005 after the extensive restoration of the villa was completed. Care was taken to plant large shrubs and trees so that the garden looks as though it had always been there. The owners of the estate live in a house adjacent to the villa (on the first photograph it is the house to the right of the villa, garden areas are very separate to guarantee guests privacy).
All that remains of the tower today are the lower ramparts which give the building an arcane aspect of strength and solidity. Villa Trappola extends over three floors. A large, modern kitchen with adjoining dining room and TV lounge occupy the ground floor. The first floor is made up of a large living space and two bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. The top floor has another three bedrooms and three bathrooms. A second kitchen here conveniently serves as a breakfast kitchen.
The extensive restoration of the house included the new kitchen and bathrooms, while the other rooms in the house received a complete face-lift. The decor is elegant and comfortable in harmony with the patrician style of this historic residence.
The garden extends over an extensive lawn shaded by maritime pines for al fresco dining and a pool area (children-proof).
The beach is at 4 km from the house at the end of a country lane winding through the National Park, affording fascinating glimpses of the local fauna. The sandy beach is white and deep, with the islands of the archipelago on the horizon. It is rare here to meet your Man Friday; there are few parts of Tuscany so secluded and well preserved.

Map & Getting there
Torre Trappola lies just south of Grosseto, roughly half way between Pisa and Rome. The area is called the Maremma, the other face of Tuscany - a wild region stretching along the Tyrrhenian coastline opposite the island of Elba between Livorno and Grosseto. Unspoilt beaches fringed with dunes are backed by hillsides covered in Mediterranean scrub and olive groves, crested by charming hill-top villages.

Guest reviews

Dear Marina and family, Thank you for a magical holiday in your wonderful house. Wonderful weather, food, horseriding & lazy days.
