The stunning location of the Castelnuovo Tancredi Estate.

Overview of the Castelnuovo Tancredi

This sprawling 600-hectare estate is situated near Buonconvento, between Montalcino and Siena, within Tuscany’s exceptional Val d’Orcia. It has been owned by the same family since 1897, however, its history dates back to the early 1300s. Its current owners apply their passion towards preserving the historic property, its biodiversity and traditions.

The estate is home to two rentals, the Castelrotto farmhouse and Villa Tancredi, the historic castle-villa available through our sister company, Excellence Villas. The bio estate contains rolling hills of olive groves, vineyards, grain fields and vast forests. Its olive and wine production boomed by the 1700s, leading to the construction of a number of cellars, farmhouses and an olive press.

Today, the entire farm is certified organic, including cereal and grain production, D.O.P. extra-virgin olive oil, and eight hectares of vineyards. Their grain production is quite unique as the owners are endeavoring to revive some of Tuscany’s traditional cereals. They are encouraging local farmers to follow suit and are building a mill that will be able to mill and distribute this special flour.

Guests of the estate will have the opportunity to try some of these high quality products during their stay. A tour and tasting at the historic cantina can also be arranged, led by the wine-maker and including sampling several wines accompanied by traditional local cheese and prosciutto.

Located next to some of the finest wineries of Southern Tuscany, in and around world famous Montalcino, guests can enjoy wine tasting in the area as well as a variety of other natural and cultural pursuits.
