Casa dell’Ambasciatore is a charming house standing on its own on the edge of the hamlet, surrounded by a garden and wide stretching views onto open fields and the Monte Amiata in the background.
The entrance over the terrace with pergola and dining table leads straight into the large living room with a large fireplace and open plan kitchen. The room is generously furnished with two large sofas and a dining table. French windows lead onto the terrace to one side and into the garden to the other side of the room.
A few steps lead down to the two bedrooms and bathrooms. These rooms can be turned into doubles or twins according to the wishes of our guests. Both bedrooms have French windows into the garden.
The salt water pool of the estate is 2 minutes on foot from the house.

While relaxing under the pergola, which was laden with ripening grapes we enjoyed the ever changing view up to Monte Amiata, watching the hawks gliding on the thermos. We could sit there for the whole week but we did drag ourselves away to visit the recommendations that were in the book provided. Off we went to the beautiful St. Antimo\'s Abbey, Montalcino, Monepulciano, Pienza, San Quirico d\'Orcia, Sienna, and a jewel of a find one afternoon when we took the wrong road, Radicofani. Stepping out of car the view was breathtaking with the clouds racing by and all at once the bells started ringing for mass. Beautiful.
It was always lovely to return to our comfy Casa, relax, swim and walk to see the sunset over the valley. We found the first shopping option and the first dinner fabulous and ate at I Lecci 3 times that week.
Thank you again

It was a revelation to discover a Tuscany so different from the E.M. Forster "Room with a view" images of domes and paintings. These were all of course only twenty minutes drive away in Montepulciano; but here half way up the magnetic fields of Monte Amiata we were in another world of more primitive forces. Here we could under the moon see porcupines and wild boar searching for truffles; experience during the day the seemingly forgotten restorative 40 degree hot waters of Bagno San Filippo and breath in the cool air of the evening recovering from the baking heat of the hill towns. The nearby water-falls and towering orange lichen encrusted palazzo of San Gallo brooding over the valley recalled a Claude landscape. The view from the terrace up towards the summit of the extinct volcano was truly of a beauty and tranquillity hard to describe. With a bottle of Mr Biondi-Santi's wine from nearby Montalcino the evenings spent here were truly unforgettable.

......and the only thing we did was to sit on the terrace, in the garden or at the fire place and looked at the landscape, the Monte Amiata and enjoued the beautiful house + estate. Next time we have to see Tuscany.

Notre meilleur souvenir reste „La Porta“ à Monticchiello. Notre plus belle visite : Sienne assurément!

We will be back. Please keep this place the way it is. Beautiful, mellow, inspiring, magical. Perfect. We look forward to seeing Jonathans new creations and having home-deliveried 5 course meals again when we return.

Our family enjoyed staying at the Casa dell’Ambasciatore. It was a lovely house, beautiful setting and we had a pleasant , restful time. It was also great that Vivo d’Orcia was about 6° cooler than the valley itself, as we were here during a heatwave.
Thanks you all so much for your help.

Guten Tag Frau Trautmannsdorff,

Dear Trust and Travel
I just wanted to write and tell you what a wonderful time we had at Vivo D'Orcia. My wife says it was the best holiday she has ever had.
From the moment we arrived, it met - and exceeded - our high expectations.
The house and location are beautiful, it was clean and well-stocked with food for us, and all the arrangements for our late arrival went very smoothly.
We were very impressed with the way your company handled the booking, and all communications were very comprehensive and clear.
Put us down as two very satisfied customers.
The only glitch - and it was our fault - was that we had to make several trips to the bank because we hadn't noticed the warning that they only take cash.
I know it was on one of the briefing sheets you sent, but we missed it.
Jonathan - who looked after us at Vivo D'Orcia - said other clients had also arrived under the misunderstanding about credit cards being acceptable. My only suggestion for an improvement would be to put the 'cash only' message in bold type on all correspondence.
We have wonderful memories, wonderful photographs - and we are already talking about returning to Vivo d'Orcia.
When we do, it will certainly be with your company.
Thanks to all your staff for helping make our trip so memorable.

We had the most wonderful time at Vivo d'Orcia. It was all peace and beauty, and I would urge anyone who wants to see the 'real' Tuscany to go there.
It is very isolated, and so not suitable to everyone's taste. You need to have some adventure in your soul to go there!
The Casa dell'Ambasciatore is beautifully restored to a very high level. It has everything one needs for comfort, and the meal we had ordered was one of the best we have ever tasted. Jonathon Radford, the head gardener at Vivo was there to help with any questions or issues and is a wonderful asset to the visitor.
Thank you so much for helping us with this holiday. We look forward to our next adventure with you!
